KERMIT

Missed a week! (The dad’s fault, not the elder’s.) Here’s the report from four days after we FaceTimed (“FacedTime”?)
December 29, 2014
His name is Chato, which means “Squashed.”
 Round 3! Keep guessing!

Ok, this was a weird week. Tuesday morning, was fine. Then Elder Solomon (a zone leader we live with) got really really sick, so he stayed in. We went to a couple appointments, then he called and said he had to go to the hospital. So that we could reach all of our appointments between both companionships, we did exchanges and I went to the hospital with Elder Solomon. So they drew blood, he passed out, then threw up, then woke up very confused. They weren’t sure what was wrong, so they kept him overnight and since I signed something in Spanish, I ALSO stayed overnight in the Mexican Hospital (which is the cleanest place in Matamoros, thank heavens).

The next day, after I paid 75 pesos for 2 pancakes (I don’t know if you know, that’s a lot for a missionary here), and after we fought some doctors for his medication, we went home, did some planning, went to a Christmas party, and then went to bed, because it took all day.

Christmas Day, I woke up SUPER sick. My whole body hurt and I was really congested. I asked my companions to give me a blessing, and right in the middle of the blessing, I threw up! Just in case you ever have full-body aches and think it might be fun to throw up, DON’T DO IT. I’ve tried it, and it’s not fun. So I was sick all of Christmas Day and the day after, then it was business as usual Saturday and Sunday. Now I’m all better! The church is true!

For Christmas, my mom (aka the best in the world) got me Cheez-Its, Orange Sticks, watch bands, a TON of candy, and a harmonica! Just like I say it in my prayers (not literally, I’ve got souls to save)!

I guess that’s it. This season, as we turn our minds to the future, let’s think about how we can better fulfill our purposes in our callings. Not just our official callings in the church, but our callings as members in general, as husbands, as wives, as friends, as parents or potential parents, or as sons and daughters of earthly parents and of our Heavenly Father.

I sure love you guys. Keep doing the seemingly-simple things like reading your scriptures, saying your prayers, and going to church.
