FOR THE LONGEST TIME

Much as “the only constant is change,” the only consistencies on his mission are the continued inconsistencies. Ah, mission life...

8 Dec. 2014

I no longer have a companion! Apparently 3 months is too much time to be the junior. I’m writing from Reynosa, here in the offices while I wait until my new companion comes. That’s right, I’m going to be a trainer. Today marks 2 days since I completed MY training, and I’m going to train. Woot. I return to Matamoros tomorrow, to serve in the area Matamoros 2. I still know nothing about my companion, except that he’s Mormon. I’m nervous, but excited.

So Brittany couldn’t be baptized this week, because our chapel ran out of water. That’s not a typo. Don’t ask me how that happens, because if I knew, we could have filled the font. What I know is that one minute, we were filling the font, the next, all the water stopped, and the bishop of the other ward came in asking why the sinks in the bathroom weren’t working. She’ll be baptized this Saturday, but I still get to baptize her, because she’ll be baptized in my new chapel.

We didn’t do anything for Thanksgiving, but it’s alright. It doesn’t feel at all like Christmastime.

It’s true, we are very blessed to have this technology [email]. One more difference, an instructor at the MTC taught us that we’re not just fishers of men, as the work was done in the early days, but we’re also hunters, looking for those prepared to receive the Gospel, and adapting our tactics to know their specific needs. I’ve thought a lot about that.

Órale, the weather here has been hot! We had like one week of ridiculous cold (I could see my breath IN MY HOUSE), but now it's hot again. It's so weird here.

Well, other than the changes and the not-baptism, I don’t have a lot to report. That, and I forgot my notebook where I write down all the stuff I want to say. Whatevs.

The church is true. I love you guys. Sorry this letter is super lame. Jesus loves you!
